"Brigadier Robin Hoof and this here is Colonel Eclipsed Midnight. We have observed many of the battles over the past 5 years and feel its time to end this pointless war ourselves. Luna as well as my superiors do not know of this but I am asking for your pledge of support. Disband from the the empires army and instead join our troops to create a Peace Corps so to speak. Fighting both sides to return to harmony using Ponyville as our HQ. So if you wish to sign over and join us, please do. You will then be able to pick ranks that are under the rank of General as that shall belong to midnight while I take on the duty of Field marshal. So do you accept." Robin spoke peacefully trying to convey that they mean what they say.

Pax smiled. ''Ebon, you may leave.'' Ebon opened his mouth, as to say something, but closedit after a few seconds. He stood up, replaced his chair, and flied to the exit. As soon as the curtain was slided back in position, Pax spoke up. ''How could you proveme that what you say is the honest truth? I've seen many papers, heard many lies. What you say is to good to be true; i'd join you immediatly if you could get my trust. Sunnybu- I mean Celestia putted me in charge of the civilian's safety and peace of mind; i won't break my promise to her if i can't put my trust in you.''

"What will get us your trust. If you read the treaty all information is written down. With the princesses seal on it. So, tells us exactly what you want and we'll see it through." Robin made his question and promise as clear as he could. Still waiting for a reply.

Pax looked right in Robin's eyes for a few seconds. He leant forward, narrowed his eyes, obviously observing something only he could see. Suddenly, he leant back, closing his eyes. ''I'll have a test for you later. But for now, i'll put my trust in you.'' He stood up. ''Oh, and don't you think that i'm weak you fillies; i've seen more blood on my weapons then you on battlefields. So don't you do anything behind my back.''

"Why would we risk harmony betraying a veteran. We may be of the opposite faction but our respect goes beyond those of our own. If you need us we shall be at Twilight's library. Though there still is a problem. Luna and Celestia still want a battle. So we must fake it. Tell your soldiers to not kill and fake a fight. Otherwise we'll be seen as going dark and more loyal soldiers will come to check up on us... And that will ead to all of us facing death. Not just the solar empire."

Pax smiled. ''Well, here comes the truth test. Give that order first. If your soldiers are faking a fight, so will ours. But, Celestia will want reports on the number of soldiers of each sides; i propose that, day after day, a reasonnable number of soldiers retreat from the fake war.'' Pax turned to the tunnel leading to the general's tent. ''The only thing i fear, is that Sunnybut herself shows her face here. If she does, I might have to betray her and hire some of our rookies as mercenaries. Even if she doesn't recognize the trick.'' He looked in Robin's eyes. ''Tomorrow, i shall meet you at that library. Just tell me where it is; i'll brief you on what happened here today. I expect you to brief me too.''

"Its at the center of town just west of the town hall. Its a large tree you cant miss it." Robin walked away noticing the stern hatred on the faces of some of the SE soldiers. Some even tried to attack them with their swords/spears/daggers/maces. When they finally got out of the camp Robin sent Eclipsed Midnight to go and inform the troops. Most were skeptical about the whole thing but decided it was for the better. They picked up training weapons while the archers grabbed padded arrows. They then marched off unto battle drums playing and soldiers chanting the NLR anthem for perhaps the last time Robin was behind all of them. He may be a high ranking official but he felt the best place to lead was on the field not in a war room like his fellow officers.

''Ebon, you can come out now. Change the army's weapons with fake ones. Take those on the training dummies; we should have enough. And give some padded arrows to the archers.'' Ebon came out of the tent-tunnel, scribling notes on a pad with his wings. ''Sir Spera, should i change your spear too?'' Pax smiled. ''No thanks. But you should stop writing notes and get moving; we don't have much time.'' Ebon saluted and took off, leaving, while Pax sighed and walked to his tent. As soon as he closed the pannel, he went to a large chest at the end of his ''bed''. He took his armor out of it. An old, rusty armor, that has saved his life oh so many times. Then he took out his spear with his magic. He could already feel the light emanating from the blades, and the somehow cold contact of the pole. ''Have i just falled into the worst trap of history, or joined the ''good side'' of the battle? Sunnybutt, please don't kill me for my betrayal.''

When they finally arrived in battle the drums and chanting stopped. Robin stepped through the group of soldiers and looked over them. He then spoke in the royal canterlot voice so all his men could hear him. Though now it wasnt called the royal voice more the officers command voice. "Alright, Mares and stallions of Luna's might. WE are here for the same purpose as those loyal to Celestia. That purpose is peace and as you all know you have all volunteered for this battle because we share a common goal. HARMONY, CO-EXISTENCE, DEMOCRACY AND... Hope. We are here today, not in the name of Luna but in the name of Equestria. We shall not maim, harm or slaughter those on the opposite side but we shall merge with them. This battle shall rage on for 1 week once that week is over one messenger shall head to Luna to inform of our victory. Though it shall not be a victory in her eyes. We have Faust on our side, Griffins and Dragons have united under our new bsnner and WE SHALL WIN." After the speech was done the soldiers grouped up into formation much like a scene from a documentary of the ancient soldiers of Roam. He then turned round to face the new allies he would hopefully gain and too the town and forest which shall be theirs to own.

Spera walked side by side with Ebon, spear held in magic. He half listened to the army's commander, trying to focus on the upcomming show he'll throw at the world. What if Celestia knew it was all a fake? Will his head roll, or be shown over her throne? Or will she'll simply set him on fire and hear his screams? On the opposite, he wouldn't be winning much. But the citizens will all be safe and sound, at least, and there will be no blood on the battlefield. He then heard Ebon shouting, ''Are we ready!?'', then the whole army shouting back and cheering. Pax sighed. Ebon made speeches so short he could shout it in one breath. But, seeing the soldiers and guards united, marching to the field behind them, they were good enough. They were close. So close. In the next minutes, everything will be played, and he'll risk everything. For the citizen's lives and security. Was it all worth it?
